Marit Boom Story House is committed to championing new voices; to uphold this commitment, we maintain the following terms and conditions.

Submissions are open to individuals aged 18 and older. All work must be submitted in English.

We reserve the right to limit the number of contributors accepted for any given volume at our discretion, based on editorial capacity and production considerations. We appreciate your understanding as we work to maintain a thoughtful and balanced experience for all involved. You may also be offered the opportunity to contribute to a future volume instead.

We do not accept previously published material, including work that has been self-published on websites, blogs, or similar platforms. All submissions must be original and solely the work of ‘you’ the author. Plagiarized content or work created by AI tools will not be accepted. All contributors retain full copyright ownership of their work. By submitting, authors affirm that the work is their original creation and that they hold all necessary rights to grant permission for its publication.

By submitting your work to Marit Boom Story House, you grant us First Serial Rights, also referred to as First Publishing Rights, which means we retain the right to be the first publisher to publish your work in any format (print, digital, or online). This right is considered exercised upon the publication of your work by Marit Boom Story House. This right is limited to first publication only and does not transfer copyright ownership.

Once your work is published with us, all rights revert to you, the author, with the understanding that we retain the right to:

  • Archive the work permanently on our platform and/or in print anthologies.
  • Reference or excerpt the work for promotional purposes, with proper attribution.

We do not accept work that has been previously published in any form, including personal blogs, websites, or other publications, as this would constitute a breach of First Publication Rights.

Following publication, authors are free to republish their work elsewhere. We kindly request that any subsequent publication acknowledge Marit Boom Story House as the original place of publication. “Originally published by Marit Boom Story House”

Marit Boom Story House reserves the right to make editorial changes to all accepted submissions. Minor edits for grammar, punctuation, clarity, tone, and formatting may be made at our discretion without prior notice. Substantial edits that affect the meaning or structure of a piece will, whenever possible, be discussed with the author before publication. However, the editorial team retains final authority over all published content.

We are committed to maintaining an inclusive and respectful platform. Submissions containing racist, sexist, discriminatory, or otherwise harmful language or themes will not be accepted. In cases where such content appears within the context of a larger narrative and is deemed essential to the piece, it may be subject to editing, redaction, or a content warning at the discretion of the editorial team.

Marit Boom Story House is an independent, mission-driven publisher dedicated to amplifying new and emerging voices. While we are currently unable to offer monetary compensation for accepted submissions, all contributors will receive a complimentary digital contributor copy of the publication in which their work appears. In addition, authors will be credited by name and recognized as featured contributors in both the digital and any future print editions. We deeply value the creative work of our contributors and are committed to showcasing it with the respect and visibility it deserves.

As the author, it is your responsibility to ensure that accurate and up-to-date contact information is provided to us. We are unable to issue proper credit without the correct details.

Upon delivery of your digital contributor copies, you will be expected to download and archive the materials for your personal records. Please note that we reserve the right to withdraw public access to the content at any time.

Authors may request to withdraw their submission at any time prior to “acceptance” by notifying us via email. We understand that creative and professional circumstances can change, and we aim to respect the autonomy of every writer during the review process.

However, once a piece has been “accepted” for publication, Marit Boom Story House retains the right to publish the work as agreed upon in the acceptance communication. At this stage, withdrawal is not guaranteed and will be considered only under exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of the editorial team. Please note that we do not accept revised versions of a piece once it has been submitted, unless requested by our editors during the review process.

By submitting your work, you acknowledge and agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
